MAKE A MOVIE LIKE SPIKE is a cutting-edge, stylish, urgent, punk rock-meets-hip hop, international film that screams ‘They Can’t Kill Us.’ We have captured the angst of youth through an unapologetic, honest, independent lens, using culture as a backdrop to explore universal themes. A war film that never shows you war, only the people who experience it.

A meditation on the traditional hero’s journey, MAKE A MOVIE LIKE SPIKE is a coming-of-age docudrama about Luis and Ronald, two best friends from Los Angeles who come to find that they are the heroes that they have spent their lives looking for.

18 Mighty Mountain Warriors gained more fans with their impeccable timing, intelligence, and experience. The 18 MMW were all class decked out in suits reminiscent of the old vaudeville routines. The Warriors, with special guest Diana Toshiko, dished out their usual brand of socially relevant, media inspired pieces to a sold out house at The Improv Tuesday evening at the Sketch Championships.

All of the groups, for the most part, were gracious and much support was heard all around the small Improv room where each group performed 15 minutes of side splitting material. After a small mix up with who actually won, Projekt Newspeak was declared the winner, while the other groups quickly rushed outside to meet and greet old friends and new friends along with the many Hollywood industry who attended.

Sketch comedy has been on the early days of television continuing on with Saturday Night Live still running today. Sketch festivals started in the late 90′s and have booming on as more people are appreciating the either the art, social relevance, or pure entertainment value. This was the fourth year that The Improv has held such a festival. Hopes that the festival will make it onto television somehow was talked about in the green room. Judging from the audience reactions, a DVD of the sketch competition would, like the show on Tuesday night, guarantee lots of laughs.
